Virginia Installations, Inc. was founded in 1994 by Jim Barrett and incorporated in 1997. We began the business by becoming a stocking distributor of Organized Living, Inc. closet organization systems that are manufactured in the United States. Over the years, we have expanded our services to sell and install many more products for the home, including framed and frameless shower enclosures, mirrors, door hardware and bath accessories. (See our Vendor List for product lines.)
As a small, local, family owned and operated company, we are quickly able to respond to our customers’ needs and requests, utilizing our own team of installers, management and fleet of service vehicles. Over the years, we have accumulated a vast wealth of knowledge and experience, improving and perfecting techniques of product installation from professionally installing deadbolts to highly-specialized areas such as complex closet systems and heavy glass frameless shower enclosures.
Virginia Installations is licensed and insured, and works primarily with contractors to sell and install products for residential construction. We also do light commercial projects such as apartment complexes or facilities for clients like Massanutten Resort. Our goal is to build long-term, friendly relationships with our builder community. Most of our clients remain with us for years. They’ve helped build us into the leading Closet Organization company in the Shenandoah Valley region.
Increasing volume led us to purchase our 6,000 sq. ft. warehouse in Elkton, VA, however, over the years, our success and steady growth has resulted in the outgrowth of that warehouse. Expansion plans are in the works for a full-service showroom and larger warehouse in the near future that will help us to better serve our customers’ needs, as they will be able to come in to see and feel the products we carry.
Jim Barrett founded the family owned and operated Virginia Installations, Inc. in 1994 and oversees everything from strategic planning to daily operations. “I basically make sure everybody is happy!” He works to ensure that our employees treat our customers in a respectful and professional manner in order to continually meet their needs, with the hope of exceeding expectations.
“The opportunity to work together with my family in business has been a wonderful blessing. I am also grateful to our employees whose commitment and dedication have made Virginia Installations a success.” Outside of work, Jim enjoys spending time at home with his family, his church and occasional travel. He resides in Mt. Crawford, VA with his wife Suzanne.
Joe Barrett joined Virginia Installations in 2004 as a teenager and today manages sales and estimating for the company. In addition, he coordinates scheduling, oversees installations, and provides quality control and customer care to put the customer’s needs into action. “In growing this company and building a good reputation in the marketplace, I’m building a solid future for my family.”
Joe is a Military Veteran and has been an active member of the Virginia Army National Guard since high school. When not working, he enjoys studying military history and metalworking. He lives in Crimora, VA with his wife Savannah and two daughters.
José Duron Gayton joined Virginia Installations in 2008 to install all of the products the company sells—from basic to complex. “Our company has a lot of work, and can easily fall behind if we don’t keep on top of it. I work hard every day to get my jobs done right and done well. ‘El jefe’ (the boss) takes care of me so I want to do a good job for him.”
Jose was raised and educated in Central Mexico and moved to the United States at age 14. He lives in Elkton, VA with his wife and daughter and enjoys working out at the gym and keeping himself in top physical condition.
David Dean was hired in 2019 as an installer of closet systems, door hardware, bath accessories and mirrors. He is also a skilled locksmith, knowledgeable in commercial door hardware. “When on a jobsite, I see it as my job to not only provide quality workmanship, but also to build strong customer relations.”
When not working, David enjoys fishing and watching a good football game. He resides in Elkton, VA with his wife and daughter.
Savannah Barrett was hired in 2019 to assist the installers when needed, as well as tie up loose ends and help provide a rapid response to customers’ needs. She wears a number of hats well. “It’s great to be a part of a family business, and I’m grateful to be able to help build this company into what it is today and into the future.”
Growing up and attending school in the Shenandoah Valley, Savannah enjoys gardening and working on the family’s small farm. She lives in Crimora, VA with her husband Joe and two daughters.
Jonathan Eaton joined Virginia Installations in 2022 to provide installation of closet organization systems, mirrors, door hardware, bath accessories and shower enclosures. “Quality workmanship is critical to both the customer’s satisfaction and to the success of the company. I strive to give every job my best effort.”
Jonathan earned a BS Degree from Liberty University in Aviation, with a minor in Criminal Justice, and recently transitioned out of the Virginia National Guard into civilian life. He grew up in North Carolina and now resides in Broadway, VA, and when not working, enjoys flying airplanes, hunting, fishing and skydiving.
